Veteran goalkeeper featured in 14 MLS matches in 2023
SAN ANTONIO (Feb. 14, 2024) – San Antonio FC has signed goalkeeper Kendall McIntosh, pending league and federation approval. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Kendall to the team,” said SAFC Head Coach Alen Marcina. “Building a skilled, focused, and hungry goalkeeping core is a priority for us, and with Kendall’s addition, we’ve achieved just that. Kendall brings exceptional athleticism and an undeniable shot-stopping ability, as well as valuable experience and leadership to the team.”
McIntosh joins the SAFC goalkeeping arsenal with eight years of professional experience between the posts, including 73 appearances in USL Championship. The San Jose academy product began his career with the Portland Timbers, spending time in both MLS with the first team and USL with Timbers 2 from 2016-19. He spent 2020 with the New York Red Bulls before making the move to fellow MLS club Sporting Kansas City. In three seasons with Kansas City, he posted three clean sheets in 16 MLS matches and five shutouts in 26 matches with the reserve side.
Originally from Oakland, California, McIntosh has featured for the United States National Team at the U17 and U20 levels. He held opponents scoreless in 210 straight minutes at the 2011 CONCACAF U-17 Championship to help the United States clinch its third title. While in college at Santa Clara University, McIntosh was named 2015 West Coast Conference Goalkeeper of the Year after leading the Broncos to a conference championship.
