Midfielder Has Appeared in Five MLS Matches for Montreal This Season
SAN ANTONIO (April 25, 2023) – San Antonio FC has acquired midfielder Rida Zouhir on loan from CF Montreal of MLS, pending P-1 Visa, league and federation approvals, the club announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“We are excited to welcome Rida to the team and are thankful to Montreal for providing the loan,” said SAFC head coach Alen Marcina. “He brings MLS and national team experience at such a young age. Rida, for us positionally, will be a box to box center midfielder. He is fantastic with the ball at his feet, has the ability to find players beyond the last line, and possesses a dangerous shot from distance.”
Zouhir has appeared in five of Montreal’s eight matches this season, starting one and racking up 218 minutes. The 19-year-old Montreal academy product made his MLS debut in 2021, appearing in 12 matches since.
SAFC is in action twice this week, traveling for a Wednesday matchup with Nashville SC of MLS in the US Open Cup Third Round. Kickoff from GEODIS Park is set for 7:30 p.m. CT, and can be streamed on the B/R Football app. The team then returns home for a return to USL Championship play against Las Vegas Lights FC on Saturday, April 29. Kickoff from Toyota Field is set for 7:30 p.m. CT, with tickets available at SanAntonioFC.com or the SAFC app.
