On the eve of our inaugural home match, we want to take a moment to offer a sincere “thank you” to our Season Ticket Members and all those who have provided us with incredible support over the past several months.
As the newest member of the rapidly-growing USL, the 2016 San Antonio FC season officially opened last weekend with a 3-0 away victory over Seattle Sounders FC 2, yet our home kickoff tomorrow night at 7:30pm at Toyota Field against Swope Park Rangers (owned/operated by MLS’ Sporting Kansas City) truly marks the beginning of a new era for professional soccer in San Antonio.
Our objectives are nothing short of building San Antonio FC into one of the highest performing professional soccer clubs in North America, and ultimately bringing Major League Soccer to the Alamo City. We can only realize this goal through outstanding performance on and off the field in the USL, and the support, involvement, and passion of the City of San Antonio, Bexar County, our corporate partners, and most importantly, our fans.
Those of you visiting Toyota Field for the first time can expect a vibrant atmosphere in a magnificent venue to enjoy professional soccer. Fans returning to Toyota Field having attended professional soccer games in past seasons can look forward to not only being able to continue many of their pre-game traditions, but also to San Antonio FC games that are presented in a “soccer authentic” manner that keeps the in-game focus upon the action on the field, and emphasizes the fan experience throughout the building, including the concourses. There will be a host of new features already in place for tomorrow night including significant SAFC branding elements, the Bud Light Bunker at the South End (which has expanded the beer garden and added eight different taps flowing with popular craft, domestic and import beers), and the debut of a brand new SAFC uniform. As part of these continuing stadium enhancements in the coming weeks, we will also be replacing over 1,500 seats predominantly in the club sections to further transform the look, feel, and comfort of Toyota Field.
Led by Darren Powell, we have assembled a talented group of players with significant professional experience domestically and internationally, and we are confident that we will be highly competitive in our first season despite the strength of the USL’s Western Conference. From the players to the coaches to the staff, we are honored to represent San Antonio and are committed to delivering the quality of sporting and event experience that you have come to expect from the Spurs Sports & Entertainment family.
We look forward to hosting you during the 2016 season and building something special with you in the San Antonio professional sports landscape that will last for generations to come!
Sincerely,
Tim Holt
